Foley is a lawyer with international experience and immense tenacity. He is qualified in four jurisdictions: New York; England & Wales; Ontario, Canada; and Nigeria. From the early stages of his career, he represented a variety of high-profile clients, including: a hedge fund CEO in Canada accused of devising a fraudulent investment scheme that led to over US$50 million in losses, and a major Swiss bank in relation to criminal and civil fraud charges against its employees.
In addition, high-value business litigation is a practice area in which Foley is well-versed. In England, he represented a major US IT company in a US$60 million lawsuit concerning a merger with a UK corporation. His expertise extends to international arbitration. This includes advising clients on contentious matters involving various arbitral institutes, such as the ICC, LCIA, CIETAC and the BVI IAC. Foley is also a German speaker.
Prior to working a lawyer, he studied law at the University of Richmond in Virginia, USA, obtained an LL.M in International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University in England and graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Toronto, Canada.
